Terms of Service
Scheduling – To reserve a slot for any of my editing services, please email me at Alice@Paper-FreeEditing.com. I'll provide a timeframe for completion of your project, and you'll confirm this scheduling arrangement. Based on your document’s word count, I'll email you an invoice. For all services over $100, fifty-percent (50%) is due when you reserve the editing time slot. The remaining 50% is due when my edits are ready to be sent to you. Payment for any services totaling less than $100 is due in full at the time of booking.
If you cancel your editing slot at least 30 days in advance, your full deposit will be refunded, less any transaction costs (such as PayPal fees) already paid or required to complete the refund. If you cancel your editing slot less than 30 days before the start of the scheduled editing time, half of your deposit will be refunded (less transaction fees). All charges are payable in US dollars online via PayPal or Venmo.
Copyright – Often in the course of editing, I'll draft language to show how a concept could be expressed in your work. Once you’ve paid all editing costs in full, Paper-free Editing releases any claims on copyright or intellectual property rights for any written content, and you are expressly permitted to include that content, as drafted by Paper-free Editing or revised at your discretion, within your document with no need for attribution.
Expedited Services – If you have an urgent project and you’re unable to wait for my next available editing slot, I may be able to accommodate you and still meet my deadlines for other clients. When you submit a request for a rush job, I’ll evaluate my current workload and give you an estimated date of completion for your project. Please note that expedited work will be subject to a 25% Expedited Services Surcharge. Before booking with me, you’ll need to confirm the due date and make the first 50% payment.
Developmental Editing Concerns – While performing copyediting or proofreading services, if I notice serious developmental concerns (problems for which I would recommend rewriting or removing entire sections and drafting others), I'll contact you via email, explain the issues, and check whether you want me to proceed with my work. If you request that I stop so you can address the developmental trouble(s), I'll bill you for the editing I’ve performed to that point. If I don't hear back from you with instructions within two business days of my email, I'll finish copyediting or proofreading your material so I can stay on schedule and meet my deadlines for other clients.
Updates to Rates – Paper-free Editing reserves the right to change the editing services rates at any time and will honor the rates posted at the time a service is booked and the first payment is made.
Formatting – Standard formatting is double-spaced pages with a 12-point font and 1-inch margins (in Microsoft Word unless otherwise agreed to). Since my rates are set by the word, not by the page, these document formatting guidelines don't impact your editing costs.
Terms of Service – If you're unsatisfied with your editing services for any reason, please contact me within thirty (30) days of receipt of my work to resolve your concern. If I don’t hear from you within this timeframe, I'll assume you are satisfied with my services. Please note that no editing is 100% accurate and that some aspects of editing are subjective. My goal as an editor is to collaborate with you to produce the clearest possible expression of your ideas. By booking a service with me, you agree to these terms.
